Weft is a multi-faceted project that cares deeply about sustainable textile consumption and sees creativity as a driving force for change. Weft teaches, produces, and collects to inspire individuals who are passionate about creating to make something unique.

This project started out as a desire to explore human experience of those not only suffering through COVID-19 but also to those who may be stressed from work, school, and etc. Also, having the desire to showcase remedies outside of the Eurocentric view was an important factor in the decision of the final design. In the beginning, there was a challenge in determining which method of mediation I would pursue to design. Beauty such as face masks or more natural methods like essential oils were two different options. To solve this, I reflected on the experiences of people living in dense areas like cities where most times there is a disconnection with nature. Then the pandemic essentially amplified this disconnection through quarantine. Realizing this, I opted to include natural incense and teas, to help meditate the user and leave the body and mind clear of any unwanted thoughts.

VICE is an ever growing media company geared towards millennials. Known for their brutally honest, and unfiltered approach towards all things media. The rebrand for their corporate identity achieves just that.

Objects With Feelings
MANGIA Pasta Company focuses on making the best spaghetti box possible. The box celebrates the act of eating pasta, but at the proper portion sizes. All information on the package is displayed in both Italian and English.

Sensory-processing sensitivity is an urgent point of research due to its high prevalence in human populations and its direct relation to various maladaptive life outcomes, as a significant factor in HSP well-being and quality of life. Despite its prevalence, SPS is still relatively unknown and misunderstood in the general public, which increases the risk of HSP ostracization, isolation and mental illness — especially in high stimulation-oriented Western societies. This is where I believe design has an opportunity to bridge gaps of public knowledge and improve HSP self-perception, by introducing new ways of understanding SPS in visual language.
A Guide to SPS
Introducing Cover Yourself -Che Ðậy Bản Thân, a luxury spa line that rejuvenates the body from everyday labour. Each container contains four different masks that target the face, hands, body and feet to heal the everyday consumer through holistic spa therapy. This line of products is specifically designed for the Vietnamese everyday lady whether she is a farmworker, corporate worker, schoolgirl or market lady.

Nani pays tribute to "nanis" and Fijian tailors by providing Canadians with a chic, eco-conscious alternative to fast fashion. Fast fashion offers consumers accessible, ready-to-wear clothing year-round to fulfil their fashion needs. However, the negative consequences are hard to overlook while supporting fast fashion brands. Through research, how consumers' values on ethical consumption are challenged were explored to understand the complex nature of fast fashion. Based on the findings, a slow fashion brand – the movement where consumers are encouraged to buy based on the quality of clothing versus quantity while supporting ethical and sustainable fashion – was created. Nani consists of garments that are made to last with ethically sourced materials. It promotes shopping with purpose and intent while being mindful of over-consumption. Nani also includes an informative side to help consumers learn more about fabrics and how they can repurpose their existing clothes.

Sophie Zhao has a particular passion in UX/UI and web design, she constantly strives to make the world a better place with the power of her empathy-driven work. She is guided by a strong belief in design as a way of recognizing and forming relationships between ideas and reality, and as a method for improving the connections between people and the products they use. Her aesthetic approach often involves a distinct sense of play, aiming to put the fun in functional, and pushing the limits of form and beauty. She also hopes to make big impacts with her design on the way people interact with the world around them.

Alan is a creative designer whose expertise lies within experimental print media, graphic manipulation and typography. When he is not designing he can be found sketching and writing songs on the guitar.

Leah is a motion designer with an interest in 3D, typographic and Illustrative work. She finds inspiration in the world around her and uses personal experience to shape her conceptual designs and push forward a stronger meaning in her work. Leah is always eager to challenge herself and learn new skills through her process. She wishes to use her design skills to create a more creative and outside the box reality.

Fel is a user experience focused creative with a passion for changing how people interact with the world. Formally trained in fine arts and illustration, they use critical thinking to bring design experiences to life. Fel loves spending time with their puppy and tattooing.

Katie is a multidisciplinary artist, who is passionate about using design to connect people and share experiences. She is always inspired by the world around her. Katie specializes in book design, time-based communication and illustration. When she's not busy designing, she loves to crochet, bake cakes and spend time with her pets.

Amy Davidson is a graphic designer with a passion for research-driven, exploratory processes in order to solve complex problems. Motivated by her curiosity and ambition — her underlying goal is to create meaningful experiences. With her hunger to learn, she loves collaborating with other creative minds to explore new concepts and is always open to new perspectives.
